As curator of The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1 soundtrack, Lorde is carrying the weight of the album’s success on her shoulders. It’s no wonder the 18-year-old singer is in hardcore promotional mode, appearing everywhere possible to perform “Yellow Flickr Beat” and talk up the LP.

A recent visit took place at BBC Radio 1 Live Lounge, a favorite of mine. As required by every visitor, the artist has to perform a cover of a current hit. The Kiwi chose Jeremih’s “Don’t Tell ‘Em.”

Some might find it surprising she picked the R&B hit. It’s clear, though, she’s a fan of the genre by picking Miguel, Q-Tip, Tinashe to contribute to the Mockingjay soundtrack. Lorde’s cover could seamlessly fit on her debut album, Pure Heroine. She gives it her signature tortured and haunting vibe. Give it a listen below and see if she did it justice.
