Mr. Eagle NYC 2014 Contest: More Than Just A Bunch Of Leather Daddies

On October 5th The Eagle New York held the Mr. Eagle NYC 2014 Contest. I was there, of course, and everybody knows how much I love my leather daddies. Grrrr! But I was surprised to learn that there is more to this contest than meets the amazing eye. Winning not only requires representing New York in other competitions, but also involves doing a lot of work for the leather community.
The judges
There were four stages in the competition: First, the contestants introduced themselves in a leather-casual outfit. Number two, and my absolute favorite, the contestants came on stage wearing nothing but their jockstraps and answered some fun questions from the judges. Then they showed up with their formal leather outfit and gave a three-minute speech.
Nice view
From stories of how they got involved in the leather community, to how one of them was living life as a straight man but recently came out of the closet, to sharing an anecdote of experiencing a same-sex abusive relationship, to how one would help and support his fellow leather brothers and sisters; all of these guys had heartbreaking and touching stories. The final stage of the competition, a one-on-one interview with the judges (prior to the event), completed their score.
The contestants
Second runner-up Mike Sorrentino, Mr. Eagle NYC 2014 Cee Jay Lynos, and first runner-up Rico Noguchi.
It was a full house at The Eagle, and after much deliberation and anticipation we were about to find out who the winner was. Second runner-up went to Keith Sorrentino, first runner-up Rico Noguchi (in my opinion, the hottest one) – just in case the winner “accidentally” breaks his leg or something. And Cee Jay Lyons took the Mr. Eagle NYC 2014 title home.
